How many registered digg users?

Posted in Uncategorized on Dec 18, 2005

I was curious about this after my little digg experiment so I figure out a way to see how many registered users of digg there are, just type in your browser the following URL

http://digg.com/topusers/page9999

This URL should point to page 9,999 of the list of top diggers, they list 30 per page (http://digg.com/topusers/page1 points to the top 30 users). Since there are still less than 300,000 users, it gives you a page that shows the last page of digg users, currently the page 2,744 and there you get the magic number. The trick does not seem to work using a URL with a page number with more than 5 digits.

I am the director for Internet and Multimedia for Telefónica R&D, based in Barcelona where I managed their R&D center. I have been a bit all over the place for the last 15 years, specially in Tokyo, my favorite town, and finally came back in mid 2006 to my home town. I like everything that has to do with the Internet, computers, software and gadgets, not just the geeky aspect but also the business side. I also love reading (business essays mainly) and TV series and movies as well as having a good dinner and night out with my friends.
