And yet another RSS blog search engine
Just came across PubSub, apparently it has been around for a while but I have never seen it before, it was referred as one of the “big four” in this post by Steve Rubel together with Technorati, Google and IceRocket (Technorati seems to be the one that gives the best results but I like better how the site is organized at IceRocket and some of the search features there) so I decided to give it a try.
Their home page has a box in the middle that encourages users to type a keyword or sentence that it is used to search for blogs and post on this topic. I tried with Web 2.0 spelled in different ways, space in the middle, no space in the middle, quotes, no quotes, Web or web, etc. I ended up creating like 8 subscriptions but all of them when clicked returned a page that say that “there are no results that match my subscription”. Umm., weird since the home page actually has a sample subscription called Web 2.0.. After reading a bit I learnt that this is not really a search engine but more like a RSS aggregator and it will update my subscriptions as new results are found. Will I use this service? No, thanks but no, I already get too many blogs and either IceRocket or Technorati typically do an okay job as blog search engines.
